戏剧奥林匹克是世界著名戏剧大师特尔佐布罗斯、铃木忠志、罗布特威尔逊为了推动世界戏剧艺术的发展，联手发起成立的国际戏剧组织。经戏剧奥林匹克国际委员会邀请和国内众多文化人士的努力，北京市代表中国于2012年获得了第六届戏剧奥林匹克的主办权。
