　　故事梗概

　　东北的冬天，雪覆盖了小城。

　　陈桂林是某工厂工会文艺干事，和妻子分居多年，与11岁的女儿共同生活。陈把精力都放在培养女儿钢琴学习上。由于家里没有钢琴，致使孩子的弹奏水平一直不能提高。

　　陈本想给女儿买架钢琴，可父母多病，三天打针两天住院，购置钢琴的钱耗没了。

　　陈凭着和第五小学更夫老王当年的同事关系，偷偷安排女儿晚间在音乐教室练钢琴。可好景不长，有人举报学校晚上“闹鬼”——从音乐教室里传出钢琴声。为此，老王被解雇，陈的女儿失去了练钢琴的地方。

　　妻子突然回家与陈办理离婚手续，并提出抚养女儿。在抚养权问题上，两人吵得很凶。但法律界定女儿到底跟谁，取决于她自己的意愿。女儿说谁有钢琴，我就跟谁。

　　陈一直没能再给女儿找到练琴的地方。当务之急就是买一架钢琴抚慰女儿的心，四处借钱，可没有筹到。

　　陈与工友喝闷酒，酒至酣处，有人提出偷一架钢琴，大家纷纷响应。于是，他们在酒精的作用下，直奔小学校音乐教室，把钢琴抬了出来，到了操场上便再也抬不动了。酒醒，大家端详这个重物，发现钢琴是由钢板和钢丝组成。对于这些工人来讲，钢琴的工艺并不复杂，于是一个制作钢琴的计划诞生了……

　　陈认真研究钢琴制作工艺、绘制图纸，又费尽周折聚齐了小城最优秀的工人，在废弃的厂房里开工了。

　　钢琴制作完成，离婚开庭的日子也到了。根据女儿的意愿，女儿判给了母亲。

　　临别前，女儿弹奏着父亲为她亲手制作的钢琴，琴声在厂房内回荡着，虽有点走调，陈和工友们欣然的听着……

　　About the film

　　The wife who has left the family suddenly comes back into Mr. Chen’s life, asking for a divorce and custody of their daughter. Refusing to choose sides, the daughter decides to live with the parent who can get her a piano. Chen’s struggle thus begins. He tries to borrow money, and even attempts to steal a piano from a school music room, but his efforts fail. Without any other means, Chen decides to make the piano from scratch. He persuades a group of unaccomplished - but loyal - friends to help him cobble together a piano in a derelict factory from a little scrap steel and a lot of ingenuity. After overcoming many hurdles, Chen’s piano project takes shape while his wife fights vigorously with the courts for custody of their daughter. She wins an earlier court date than expected, long before the piano can be completed. Resigned to losing his daughter, Chen gives up. But his troupe of factory misfits decides to forge ahead with the project. Though crude in design and tune, the factory piano is finally finished - awaiting its first and final performance.

导演张猛

　　1975年生于中国东北，1999年毕业于中央戏剧学院，多年来一直从事影视编剧、导演工作。2007年完成导演处女作——电影《耳朵大有福》，此片荣获上海国际电影节亚洲新人奖、第九届华语电影传媒大奖最佳新导演奖，2008年完成纪录片《小狗拉车》，2010年完成电影《钢的琴》。

　　Director Synopsis

　　Zhang Meng, who was born in China northeast in 1975,graduated from China Central Academy of Drama in 1999.As an experienced director of China ChangChun Film Studio,he has much practising of film and television directing and creating.

　　In 2007,he accomplished his first self-directed feature film called LUCKY DOG,and at his age of thirty-three,he achieved the Asia New Talent Award of 10th China ShangHai International Film Festival.Therefore,he finished his first documentary film Mr ZHANG AND HIS DOG in 2008,and then he finished THE PIANO IN A FACTORY in 2010.

　　创作阐述

　　通过对陈桂林为女儿制作钢琴的历程描绘，表现中国当下社会底层民众的生存状态、心理状态和精神状态，用一架钢琴的制作聚集了多方失业工人的共同心愿，使他们在失去劳动的苦闷中，找到了劳动的快乐，获得了精神上的满足。从而，揭示了这个人群的精神取向和朴实的浪漫。钢琴的制成，说明了以工人阶级的力量与智慧会创造出最美的劳动音乐。

　　Creative Exposition

　　The film describes the hero CHEN whole process of making piano for his daughter,giving a delicate expression of the china lower class’s living situation,psychological condition and spiritual state.The production of the piano concentrates all the laid-offs’ common wishes,saves them from the suffering of losing jobs,and helps them to find the happiness of labour and fulfilment of inner-world.Moreover,the film reveals what spirit these people pursue persistently and what romance they love modestly.The success of piano-making shows that the working classes has the power and wisdom to create the most attractive working music.
