故事梗概：
《马哈哥尼城的兴衰》这部戏剧描写了阿拉斯加的森林里的保尔等四个伐木工人，以为金钱能够带来幸福，来到由既得利益者们创造的马哈哥尼城寻求欢乐，他们经历了诱惑、浮华、飓风和白日梦，结果，一个被撑死，一个被打死，一个背叛了兄弟，保尔则因为缺金少钱而被正义法庭判处死刑。布莱希特笔下的“马哈哥尼城”，是一座永恒的城市；剧中揭示的种种情节，引起人们对社会现状的感喟。
The opera “the rise and fall of the city of Mahagonny” describes Paul and his three friends, four lumberjacks in the forest of Alaska, who believe money could bring them happiness. They came to the city of Mahagonny, a city established by privileged insiders, and experienced temptation, vanity, hurricane and daydream as well. Eventually, one was stuffed to death, one was beaten to death, and one betrayed his brothers while Paul was sentenced to death due to a lack of money. The city of Mahagonny created by Brecht is an eternal one; all the plots in such an opera will inevitably arouse people’s various feelings of the current society.

人，是否可以用金钱买到一切？
在原野中奋斗的人们，当他们获得了一切金钱，就可以占领这个世界。世界给他们制造了一个销金库，通俗的名字唤作：城市。
那些曾经栉风沐雨、历尽苦难的人们，终于可以在城市中歇一口气了。拥有他们所应该拥有的，享受他们所应该享受的，男人们，迅速忘却曾经经历的苦难，他们要蜕变成为城市新人。
美酒可以买到，女人可以买到，尊严可以买到，快乐，似乎也可以买到。
只要你有钱。
在用金钱堆砌而起的城市中，人们找到了自己渴望的一切。他们自以为找到了——沉迷其中，镜花缘梦。
当金钱砌成的图景破碎的时刻，一切，赤裸裸，可怖。
贪食饕餮的，被活活撑死。
拳脚高强的，被活活打死。
独立思考的，被活活吊死。
谦卑懦弱的，一旦背叛了自己的理性和兄弟，立刻过上了醇酒美人的好生活。
黑暗势力过于强大，人们便只能在沉沦和幻灭中重建自我。同时，将灵魂出卖给莫菲斯特。夜半鼓声，灵魂出窍，却掩不住比城市夜色更加黑暗的社会。
布莱希特写就的篇章，就在哪里。
《马哈歌尼城的兴衰》……这是一座缥缈的城中，熟悉的人们的故事。
红色与黑色的交集，是一种简捷而有力的表现方式。原创的音乐，是五味杂陈的叹息、痛苦、失落、寻找、纠结、寻觅、倾诉、悔恨、浮云……
登高四望。我们看到，今日之世界，马哈歌尼，远近林立。
Director's Statement
Can human buy everything by money?
When human who struggling for life get enough money, they can occupy the world, and the world creates a special room for them to spend the money, and we can call the room “city”.
Those persons who ever experienced many tribulations eventually can relax in the city. They can possess the things that they want to have, and enjoy the fun they want to taste. They quickly forgot all the troubles the ever endured, and completely became the new ones in the city.
Wine can be bought by money, girls can be bought by money, dignity can be bought by money, and it is seemed happiness can be bought by money too.
If you have money, you can buy everything.
In the city filled by money, human believe they can find everything they want. In fact, that is only a dream.
At the time when the money-made picture falls apart, everything turns into naked horror.
The one who loves eating was stuffed to death.
The one who was good at fighting was beaten to death.
The one who likes thinking was hanged to death.
The one who was
The one who was weak and timid, once he had betrayed his reason and friends, now is at once rewarded with a good life, full of fine wine and beauties.
The evil is too powerful, so human have to re-establish themselves from degradation and disillusion. At the same time, they sold their soul to Mephisto. As the drumbeat raising in the mid-night, the soul came out from bodies, and all the things can not conceal the darkness of the society.
This is the poem of Brecht.
The opera “The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny” tells the story of the human in the city, which is very familiar to us all.
The mix of the colors red and black is a method of expression, simple and powerful. The original music is a mix of a variety of tastes: sigh, pain, loss, search, and regret…
