　　有着强烈正义感和人情味的母亲龙子(宫本信子)生病后，关闭了长年经营的料理店，住进了德岛当地医院的护理中心。在东京一家旅行代理店工作的女儿咲子(松岛菜菜子)得知以后，为了照看母亲而回到了久别的故乡。

对于母亲这个唯一的亲人遇事从不和自己商量的独断行为，咲子内心深感寂寞和不满，但是当她从主任医师寺泽(大泽隆夫)得知母亲患了末期癌症时还是不禁感到愕然。能和母亲共度的时间所剩无几…… 在照看母亲的日子里，咲子偶然听说曾经被母亲告知不在人世的父亲还活着。一天，咲子和寺泽医生一起来到了德岛名山眉山的。在那里，她得知母亲决定死后将自己的遗体捐献给医院用于解剖实验的想法。意外的精神打击以及从小就一直被压抑着的与亲生父亲相见的愿望使咲子产生了寻父的强烈想法。在寺泽医生的默默守护下，咲子怀着复杂的心情踏上了寻父之旅。寻寻觅觅的她终于发觉了父母昔日爱恋的真相和母亲对自己的深爱。这些以及寺泽医生的关心，鼓舞着她在人生旅途上继续前行。 当她再次回到德岛已时值8月的酷夏。得知母亲死期将近，咲子心中尘封已久的对于家人、恋人、以及故乡的爱一涌而起。为了弥补母亲没有能和父亲走在一起的遗憾，咲子带着母亲去看当地著名的阿波舞。壮观的阿波舞编织出的德岛狂热之夜，奇迹悄然而至……

　　Ryuko Kouno is a mother with strong justice and humane. After she was ill, she closed her restaurant which had lasted for a long time and moved to a local hospital. When her daughter Sakiko Kouno,who worked in a tourism agency in Tokyo, got this information, she came back to her hometown to look after her mother. Unsatisfied with mother's arbitrary behaviors, Sakiko was shocked by the news from the doctor Daisuke Terasawa that Ryuko got the terminal cancer. She could only spend the last few days with her mother. During this period, she happened to know that her father was still alive while her mother told her that he was dead. One day, she went to the famous mountain Bizan where she was informed that mother wanted to donate her body for anatomy. This surprise stir up her desire to find her father. Sakiko started her trip with Daisuke, feeling intricately. Finally, she figured out the between her parents and her mother's deep love to her. With the doctor Daisuke’s care, all these facts encouraged her. She came back to 德岛 in August, and know the deadline of mother was coming. Suddenly, her love to her mother, to the love and to her hometown was rising. To make up mother's regret, Sakiko took her to see the famous local Awa Odori. The dance stir up the hot night in 德岛, and the miracle appeared...
