据说在一条河里住着一个水鬼，为了能离开冰冷的河水去投胎转世，他每天想尽办法，为的就是能拉下一个活人溺水来做他的替身。但由于地处偏僻少有人经过，他始终等不到替他的活人。但就在今天，他终于遇到了一个人… …
It is said that there is a water ghost living in the deep river. In order to get out of the cold river to go for his next life, he needs to find a drowning human being to be his replacement. But in a remote place like this, seldom passersby are shown in this area. Therefore, he hasn’t yet got the chance to fulfill his plot until one day…
2、剧中名词解释：Terms Explanation
水鬼——投水自杀或者意外溺死的人，会徘徊在淹死的地方，变成水鬼。然后在水里耐心的等待，引诱，或者是强迫人落水而死，来当自己的替死鬼。千百年来，水鬼只能靠这个方法投胎转世，否则将永不能超生。
Water ghost——one who commits suicide by throwing himself into the water or one who loses his life by accidentally drowning. After dead, he will linger around the incident spot and then become a ghost. Moreover, he will also duck in the deep water secretly to find his replacement. Sometimes, he waits for the one patiently, and some other times he may use different measures such as entrapping the one or pushing the one to water on purpose. That is the only way to liberate him from being ghost to move to the next life. Otherwise, he wont be able to go to his second life forever.
阎罗王——是民间传说中地狱的主宰，掌管人的生死和轮回。在中国古代的民间信仰里面，人死后都要去阴间地狱报到，接受阎王的审判。
King of hell – he is the king of hell in the Chinese folk-tale, who is in charge of people’s life and death and reincarnation. In Chinese folk cultures, people believe everyone will sign up to the hell and take the trial from King of Hell after his death.
孟婆——在中国的古代传说里，孟婆是地狱中专门负责将死者生前记忆抹去的阴使。当死者喝了她熬制的孟婆汤，前生的恩怨情仇瞬间就会忘记，然后进入下一个生死轮回。
Aunt Meng – In Chinese ancient legend, she is an executive for erasing out all the last life memories of the one. After drinking Aunt Meng Soup, all the memories will be immediately phased out, and one will be ready to enter the new life cycle soon.
投胎转世——又叫生命轮回，是佛教对于生命的认识：人死去以后，灵魂会离开躯体，经过地狱等过程后，被转入另一个刚出生的新生命体内，这个新生命体可以是人类，也可以是植物、动物、饿鬼或者神仙。
Reincarnation – a second birth. Buddhist believes that after death, the spirit will be parted from body and it will transfer to another newborn life after tripping into the hell. The form of newborn life can be human race, animal, or plant, even hungry ghost or immortal.
3、原著作者介绍：introduction of original author
蒲松龄（1640-1715），别号柳泉居士。出身没落地主兼商人家庭，一生热衷科举，却始终不得志，因此对科举制度的不合理深有感触。他用毕生的精力完成了《聊斋志异》。
Pu song lin （1640-1715）, nicknamed Willow Spring Lay Buddhist, best known as the author of ‘Strange stories from Chinese stuido’. He was born into a poor landlord-merchant family. He spent his lifelong time pursuing civil service examination, but couldn’t receive the degree eventually and felt unsatisfied about the irrational system of the examination.

Theatre SanTuoQi is an experimental theatrical association with a group of young artists as major creators. It was founded in Beijing on December 17th 1996. The founder is Zhao Miao. 三 主创介绍：
导演 Director
赵淼 三拓旗剧团创建人、戏剧编导，毕业于中国中央戏剧学院导演系，后考取本院戏剧导演学硕士学位。“哀伤的幽默”和“精彩的想象”是赵淼戏剧的独特风格，展现“身体的诗意”是他的追求与探索。他的创作深受法国戏剧大师雅克﹒勒考克的戏剧观念和方法影响。主要编导作品：《战争与人》，《伊库斯》，《达人未爱狂想曲》，《6: 3》(I、II、III)，《2008罗密欧与朱丽叶》，《东游记》，《壹光年》，《鬼马电梯》，《九种时刻》，《水生》等。
Zhao Miao, the founder of Theatre SanTuoQi, is also a theatre writer and director. He graduated from department of directing, Central Academy of Drama, and carried on his Master study in the same university later.Zhao pursuits “sad humor” and “fantastic imagination” as his performing traits and seeks the wisdom from “the Moving Body”. Moreover, his works are profoundly influenced by thoughts and methods of French theatrical master Jacques Lecoq. Cao Lu graduated at the Department of Stage Design, Central Academy of Drama and then got the MA degree from the Department of Acting in the same university.
