我们很高兴2004年在中国第一次举办英国电影节。近年来，英国电影业凸现繁荣，哈利·波特系列、007系列的“明日帝国”、“诺丁山”和“古墓丽影”等影片都获得了巨大成功，充分展现了英国电影业的创造力。优秀的导演、出色的演员、高技巧的电影拍摄技术和吸引人的电影主题使得英国电影已经成为世界电影界的领先者。每年英国出产超过90部电影。通过电影我们了解了其他国家的文化。我们希望英国电影节能让中国的电影爱好者对英国有更多的了解。我衷心祝愿此次英国电影节取得成功！

In recent years films like the "007" adventure "Die Another Day", the "Harry Potter" series, "Notting Hill" and "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" have highlighted the creative talent of the UK's film industry. Talented directors, outstanding actors, remarkable cinematography and plots of topical interest make British cinema one of the world's leaders. Over ninety films are produced in the UK each year. Through films we can learn a lot about other cultures. We hope that through the British Film Festival, Chinese moviegoers will learn more about the UK. I wish the festival every success."
